Baked Mujadara: Black Lentils and Rice

INGREDIENTS


* 1/3 cup black lentils sorted and rinse

* 2 cups boiling water

* 1/4 cup oil

* 2 large yellow onions, diced (4 cups)

* 1/5 teaspoon kosher salt more to taste

* 1 spoon chicken consume powder-optional(I'm using vegan)

* 2/3 cup Basmati rice(if I don’t have I’m using Jasmine Rice)

* 2-3 dry jalapeño peppers

* 1/4 soy sauce

* black pepper

* ½ to 1 teaspoon cumin

* Parsley, for garnish

For the fried crispy onion garnish (optional)
1 large yellow onion cut in very thin rings


Instructions


* preheat the oven to 380 Fahrenheit


* put everything together in glass or ceramic baking . Mix and cover with aluminum foil

* The rice needs to be in the oven for 1 hour.

* After half an hour take the rice out and mix gently with fork

* Put it inside the oven for another half an hour.

* Take it out and leave it cover for 15 minutes.
